Welsh Government advice for PHV and taxi drivers

Corona update large

Last week First Minister Mark Drakeford lifted the once-a-day exercise limit, and has updated the status of the nationwide lockdown to allow for more travel.

This is great news for Ola and our drivers like you, but we need to continue prioritising safety. So, although the majority of restrictions are staying in place, we wanted to advise you on how best you can protect yourself whilst driving with riders.

What’s the government advice?

DO DON’T
Clean the high contact touch-points in your car after every ride, shift and work day using a disinfectant cleaner. Touch-points include:

    • Door handles
    • Steering wheel
    • Seat Belts and buckles
    • Seats (especially rear of front seats)
    • Dashboard
    • Gear stick
    • Windows
    • Mirrors
    • Vehicle keys
The government strongly advises you stay home for a minimum of 12 weeks if you:

    • Are 70 or over
    • Have an underlying health condition
    • Are pregnant
    • Have a weakened immune system
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth if your hands are not clean.  Accept cash payments where other payment alternatives are available
Clean your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds with soap and warm water. Use hand sanitiser with a minimum of 60% alcohol, if water and soap are not available.  Drive if you have been in contact with someone who had symptoms, or if you yourself are experiencing any symptoms, even minor, of COVID-19.  Please let us know if you fall ill and are self-isolating.
Wash your hands as soon as you get home. Allow passengers to sit in the front with you. They should always seat in the rear for safe social distancing.
Catch coughs and sneezes in a tissue (not hands or sleeves). Share your cleaning products with anyone else.
Dispose of used tissues (from cleaning and personal use) in the bin immediately.  Neglect to deep clean the vehicle, if you share it with another taxi or Private Hire driver.
Observe social distancing as often  as possible and suggest riders sit in the back seat
